Well, I haven't been spinning a lot lately, but I did manage to knit a small project with some of my handspun. I decided to try out knitting a cowl. They seem to be extremely popular and I have several skeins of handspun that are just the right yardage for such a project.
This came out okay. It's very soft, but maybe a little large in both height and diameter. It doesn't fit as snugly as I think it is supposed to either. Also it is probably a little heavy for the weather here, so I'll have to save it for when we travel to arctic climates. I probably won't wear it, but I'm not going to frog it either. It is going to be put in the hall closet.The idea of a cowl seems a little strange to me at first, but I've never been extremely fond of turtlenecks and things that sit up against my neck. I don't think I'll knit any more cowls that are this heavy - but I might try one with a lighter weight yarn; maybe a dk or sport weight and see if I like that better.

This is extremly wonderful fiber and yarn! I love the color. I can't stand things too snug around my throat. I used to love turtle necks when I was young, and I like the looks of it, but nowadays I can't stand it. I feel I suffocate. I don't think I'll be knitting cowls for myself.

It's very pretty! Cowls are perfect for us here though, it's not often we have to pull out an actual coat if we have a simple sweater and a cowl.

I agree with Christy - last winter I went without a coat most of the time by wearing a sweater and scarf. I think yours looks great and who knows - maybe it'll be an arctic winter!

Maybe it would be something that Sherman would like. It might just be his size if it isn't yours. I actually think it looks really cute - it's purple and we all know that anything purple is wonderful!!!
I think the double chin cozy aspect of the cowl is the main reason why I love the cowl!! I'm not totally sold on them either, but then again, I'm up for anything that involves sock yarn!!

I really like your cowl! The colors are beautiful, and when it gets cold outside, you'll be happy it's there. No getting a scarf caught all over the place... just slip on the cowl and be happy.
