Weekend Work

It sounds like a lot of people ventured out with their knitting for Knit in Public Day; I did not. While I did venture out for some grocery shopping, I didn't venture out of the house with my knitting at all this weekend. I sat in my knitting chair most of the weekend working on various projects and watching television.

I did make progress on a couple of different projects, but don't have anything completed yet to share with you. I made the most progress on my Lizard Ridge afghan. All the squares are blocked so I laid them all out and spent time on trying to make sure I had an arrangement that I would like. Once I had all the squares arranged, I tried to make sure that all the ridges were properly lined up so I could begin the seaming.

I'm finished with seaming up all the squares. It would have gone a little faster, except I discovered that the pattern on a few of the squares I sewed together did not line up correctly. So, I spent some time taking out a few seams and redoing the work. So now I'm on to the crochet border.

This step will require a little reading on my part and some practice. I've decided to use some Cascade 200 I had in my stash for the border. It is a nice bright turquoise blue color that actually is in several of the squares. I think it will work well and won't require a purchase.

Sherman, my faithful partner in seeking out a cool comfortable spot for a hot summer afternoon did not waver. He remained close by all weekend. What a good boy.

seriously, that first picture made me weak in the knees. Imagining that all sewn up and beautiful... wow.
Your dog is awesome, btw. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing it all seamed. Dogs just seem to want to be closer to us when it's hot. Hollis is sitting on my feet now in anticipation of the 92+ degree heat today. Slobber, slobber, pant, pant all day...lucky me!!

I have shamelessly copied your chevron scarf in monsoon and watermelon tourmaline. I just couldn't resist. Your lizard ridge is going to be so lovely. And Sherman is such a good boy.

Are you O.K. after all this sewing? Boy, am I glad you are! ;o) Since you have some practice now, would you be so kind and sew my mosaic squares together? I'm tight as a bow, can hardly wait to see it finished. But I can imagine how wonderful this Cascade will be as a border. I would like to give Sherman a big smootch on his nose. He's sooooo cute, and big! 100lbs?

I bet the lizard looks great. It couldn't miss with all those lovely squares. I think the edging will be perfect in the Cascade 200. It will really set it off nicely.
Sherman's such a good boy to stay by mom. You couldn't ask for better support!!!

That sounds a lot like my weekend! I hope you enjoyed yours as much as I did mine. Knitting in a comfy chair with a sweet pooch - how could you not?!?

It will be so cool to see it all seamed up!! I'm so impressed, I don't know if I would have the patience to knit all those squares - the end product would be so worthwhile, but I don't know if I could make it through the work to get there - I'll just ogle yours ;)

BTW, sherman is just adorable, I've wondered before if he is a swiss mountain dog? We have two berner children at home :)
