I joined a spin along group on Ravelry called Ply by Night. The idea behind the group is simple - to see how different spinners work with the same fiber and to compare the different results. Each spin along goes for a two month period. This is the groups second project, but my first with them.

I ended up with a nice amount of three ply yarn and hope to cast on for my socks this weekend. If you are spinner, stop by Ravelry and join the group for the next round!

Fiber: Briar Rose Fibers
Content: 100% Bluefaced Leicester combed top
Weight: 3.80 ounces (finished yarn)
WPI: 18 WPI average
Yardage: 395 yards
Notes: 3 ply, handwash

Wow - interesting that such a variegated fiber would give an almost solid colored yarn. It's really lovely - I can't wait to see the socks!
And now I've got Rush's "Fly by Night" stuck in my head... :D
What a nice idea. Too bad I don't like group activities much. But I'm intersted to see what the group comes up with.
The yarn color is really nice and the sock pattern is great too! I'll probably try that with some of my stash.
That's a great idea! Yours came out pretty!
WOW - that is awesome. I have yet to be able to get decent yardage for socks out of 4 oz. This is perfect! You will enjoy the Primavera pattern...I found it to be addicting. I couldn't put it down without finishing a whole repeat.

Erin
Wow!! Your yarn is getting better and better, and that is some achievement!! Gorgeous:)
What Pam said. That is so neat the difference between the before and after. And I love the concept of this group!
Wow, that is some fine spinning! Should make excellent socks! Interesting start to the braid colorwise! Sounds like a fun club.
I love that color! It has been a lot of fun to see your spinning on Fridays.
Wow! I love color.
It's incredible! I never would have thought the end result would be so uniform, given what you started with. It's gorgeous.
Curious that the blues and greens just disappeared. it's still beautiful.
