Fiber Friday - Dream in Color

Today I'm sharing one of my souvenirs from my recent trip home. I bought yarn of course and a good portion of it was sock yarn. This sock yarn is from a company called Dream in Color. The yarn is 100% Australian Merino and is superwash. The skein is 4 oz / 450 yards and the color is called Wisterious or for the less creative #240.

The company web site says they have a unique process for coloring yarn that they call veil dyeing. they say that this yarn won't pool or "landscape" as they call it. I wasn't able to find out what makes their process so special, but I love the results they get with color.

It's funny how much sock yarn I'm accumulating in my stash. It seems as though I have given myself the go ahead to buy any skein sock yarn I want. Sock yarn is one of those yarn purchases that even if you only get one skein; there is a project you can knit. It seems to me that if you have to add to the stash, another skein of sock yarn won't hurt too much. Although I'd like to finds some one skein projects for sock yarn other than socks. I'll have to take a look around. Do you have a favorite one skein sock yarn project other than socks?

Thanks for the link to Dream In Color. Their yarn is just plain yummy. There goes the sock yarn budget. Oh heck, that went a long time ago.

Wow, that is a pretty yarn! : ) I buy a lot of sock yarn too, just can't seem to resist to pretty sock yarn. Especially since I work for an online store that sells sock yarn! : ) So far I've never made anything else than socks with sock yarn but you can definitely make small shawls, or with 2 skeins you can make the chevron scarf that everyone is making right now!

Pretty, pretty color! I recently bought and used some Dream In Color yarn - it's really nice stuff to knit with. Although the colors bled for me - the yarn actually turned by bamboo needles blue!

Hmm, I have the One Skein book, and I'm sure there are non-sock projects in there for one skein of sock yarn. If I find anything good, I'll let you know!

The yarn is beautiful. I love the color and the name is perfect. Wendy of http://wendyknits.net/archives/001217.html has been knitting a mitered sweater out of sock yarn. I know others have made log cabin blankets with either left over sock yarn or whole skeins.

Nope! But would I really want to make anything else out of sock yarn? Personally, probably not!

Love that color!

I love that yarn. It looks fabulous. I only have knit socks so far with sock yarn. :)

I am tempted by your chevron scarf though :)

Ooh, I love the color. It reminds me of sherbet. The color and texture...everything! People have told me you could make a baby hat or a really skinny scarf with a skein of sock yarn. :D

I love your Friday Fiber idea and I may steal it as I start my "post-a-day-in-the-month-of-May" Challenge! Dream In Color is lovely. They have darling baby sweater kits too.

OMG! I love this yarn. I will go immediately to their site and not stop for "go".

Sock yarn stash? What is that? My DH told me the other day that I will not be able to "EVER" knit all my yarn into something! I just keep on saying...Oh yes I can!...and keep buying more sock yarn.

I just can't help myself!

One can never have enough sock yarn! My daughter's knitting wrist warmers with left over sock yarn, some are longer, some not. I'm going to use some of my sock yarn for something else as well. My latest - the Bluebell socks - where made with sweet georgia yarns, and I've worn them ONCE - felted on several locations horribly! Why didn't I learn form the Flow motion socks, I made with her yarn?I'm going to knit shawls and scarfs with soft sock yarn, where there's no nylon or anything in it. Maybe even some mitts.
